Run every weekend and many midweek dates, from early May to the end of September, the AIDA 1&2 star course is by far the most popular way to get in to freediving as it combines the 1st and 2nd levels of the AIDA educational ladder in a fun 2 day course. AIDA are the worlds foremost freediving educational body and have been developing the way we teach freediving since the 90s. This freediving course will make you a freediver in 2 days! Taught by world class freediving instructor and author Ian Donald
By the end of the course you will have covered
Equipment for freediving.
Breathing for freediving.
Safety for freediving.
Efficiency of movement.
Static apnea training for breath-holds of over 2 minutes.
Using freediving equipment.
Deep dives to a minimum of 50ft (nearly 4 storeys deep)
Dynamic (distance) apnea of over 40m.
…we go over some theory and cover the aspects of correct breathing. We then go through a couple of hours of pool training, covering static breath holding and dynamic apnea. In the afternoon (after a free lunch), we start our open water sessions in the sea. Here we can get used to equalising and diving down with perfect technique. Here at Freedive UK we put a lot of effort in to training you to achieve perfect style, concentrating on efficiency of movement and form as our primary goal. Plus you get to do it all whilst swimming among the wildlife of the Atlantic! Our instructors are experts in local marine life and you will be taught as much about the marine environment as you want.
On your second day as a freediver you will learn how to dive deeper. We will dive using dive lines and lanyards for your safety and will start to focus more on deep diving posture and relaxation. We will conduct our deep dives from boat charter, in order to give you the best quality instruction and the most exciting diving on the day (in bad weather or other exceptional circumstances we may use a local quarry for safety reasons). After lunch we will push things that little bit deeper in order to complete the depth requirements. If we have time and everyone has done what they can, we will finish with some recreational diving in the sea, looking for interesting wildlife and spectacular underwater scenery to dive among.
